About Dr. Wong
Dr. Lawrence Wong is a thoughtful and compassionate therapist whose style combines warmth, curiosity, and collaboration. Clients often describe his presence as both grounding and engaging, creating a space that feels safe to explore the hardest parts of life while also discovering new possibilities. Whether clients come for support through a crisis, or stay longer to do deeper work, Lawrence approaches therapy as a shared journey, meeting people where they are and honoring their pace.
He works with a wide range of clients, including children, adolescents, college students, and adults, with particular expertise in trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and identity concerns. Many of his clients are navigating complex relationships, cultural transitions, or the lingering effects of early adversity. Lawrence believes that lasting change does not come from external fixes alone, but from building a deeper understanding of oneself, fostering resilience, and strengthening meaningful connections with others.
Lawrence’s foundation in psychology began at UCLA, where he studied human behavior and development through a scientific and empirical lens. Before becoming a therapist, he expanded on his work in neuroscience and brain imaging research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Greater Los Angeles Veteran Affairs Hospital. These experiences deepened his understanding of how development and the brain shape both our struggles and our strengths. He brings this perspective into the therapy room, bridging science with compassion to support growth and healing.
Beyond his clinical work, Lawrence is dedicated to expanding knowledge of psychological health by engaging in outreach and sharing it with the clinical community as well as the community at large, and by mentoring and training the next generation of therapists through supervision to help cultivate clinical skill and professional development. He has also designed unique therapy groups, workshops, and events that blend imagination with healing, creating opportunities for people to learn, connect, and grow. When he is not in session, you can often find him in training, as he is an avid martial arts practitioner. He also has a passion for film, storytelling, and creating spaces where people feel a sense of belonging.
